Chinon is famous for its long and interesting history and was once almost going to be the capital of France. It is the original seat of the Plantagenet Kings of England (who were French!) and you can see parts of the old fortress from the bedroom window. Chinon is situated on the beautiful Vienne river which is one of the largest and longest rivers in France.
